A friend of mine lived for many years in Las Palmas, Canary Islands. Las Palmas is the capital of Gran Canaria and nearly half of the people of the island live in this beautiful city. He loved the place. He worked for an creative agency there. In the early days for security reasons he made it a habit to never leave his house with more money than he can afford to give away that day. But a few years ago he found out that he could carry a prepaid credit card with him and get cash off of it when he needed it. And if the card was stolen, he could deactivate it by phone in a matter of minutes.
If you are planning to visit Las Palmas, you have to see the the "Las Canteras" beach. It's one of Spain's best urban beaches and really great.
